Top tips - Progestogens and meningioma

Concerns have been raised for several years about a link between the use of progestogens and the risk of meningioma needing surgery. This has been a fast-changing area, with different guidance issued over time. This document summarises the issue in a short and easy to read format, including a suggestion for a form of words to discuss this with patients. We are grateful to the Clinical Effectiveness Unit of the College of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare for their support in the production of this document.

This resource has been produced on behalf of the PCWHS. It is for guidance only; healthcare professionals should use their own judgment when applying it to patient care.
